In a significant move to empower businesses in an evolving digital landscape, Visa has unveiled a suite of new services. The global payments leader made this announcement at TRANSACT 2025, a prominent conference held in Las Vegas, where innovation in payment processing takes center stage.
'Accepting a payment is a fundamental need of any business. Leveraging new technology to accept payments more efficiently and securely can be what sets a business apart in today’s rapidly digitalizing world,' said Antony Cahill, President of Value-Added Services at Visa. With the introduction of the reimagined Authorize.net, Unified Checkout, and the ARIC Risk Hub, Visa aims to streamline payment processes, allowing businesses to concentrate on core operations and growth.
The reimagined Authorize.net aims to empower businesses by offering robust data analysis and insights. By summarizing insights and adapting to rapidly changing customer behaviors, this platform currently processes around $200 billion in annual total payment volume for small and medium-sized merchants. 'The new Authorize.net platform will feature a streamlined user interface, AI capabilities, improved dashboards for day-to-day management, and support for in-person card readers and Tap to Phone,' Cahill added. The service rollout in the United States is expected in Q2, with expansion to other countries planned for the following year.
In addition to Authorize.net, Visa has introduced Unified Checkout, designed to simplify the payment process for merchants. 'As new ways to pay continue to emerge, merchants want to integrate once to accept all payment types to decrease the likelihood of lost sales at the point of checkout. Unified Checkout can be launched in a few hours with a 'deploy-ready' payment acceptance code,' Cahill noted. This service orchestrates over 25 card and alternative payment options, promoting a more intuitive checkout experience aimed at reducing cart abandonment.
Furthermore, Unified Checkout is integrated with the Visa Acceptance Solutions Platform, offering clients tools to manage success rates through fraud management, 3DS authentication, and tokenization management. This service is expected to be available in the United States and in piloting stages in other markets starting in Q3.
Addressing the pressing issue of fraud, Visa has announced the ARIC Risk Hub, bolstered by its recent acquisition of Featurespace. 'Fraud costs billions to the global financial system each year. Powered by Featurespace’s powerful adaptive AI, the ARIC Risk Hub helps identify risky transactions and builds profiles around genuine customer activity to increase approvals and prevent fraudulent activities in real-time,' said Cahill. This comprehensive fraud protection platform is available globally.
The launch of these services underscores Visa’s commitment to enhancing the payment processing landscape. 'At Visa, we talk a lot about unleashing the creativity of commerce – in other words, how do we support retailers, marketplaces, and shops to launch new products and services?' Cahill stated, highlighting the company's visionary approach.
These strategic enhancements come at a crucial time as more businesses pivot to digital platforms amid ongoing shifts in consumer behavior. With the competitive nature of the payment processing industry, Visa's new offerings are positioned to not only bolster client growth but also to solidify its standing as a leader in digital payments.
As Visa continues to innovate, it sets the stage for businesses to harness the power of data and technology, ensuring they remain agile in the face of changing market dynamics. This comprehensive approach to payment solutions is expected to significantly impact not only merchants but the broader economy as well.
