Visa Inc. (NYSE: V), a leader in the digital payments arena, has unveiled a trio of innovative products to support businesses in navigating the complexities of payment acceptance. Announced at the TRANSACT 2025 conference in Las Vegas, these services aim to provide enhanced security and efficiency for merchants as they adapt to the evolving digital marketplace.
"Accepting a payment is a fundamental need of any business. Leveraging new technology to accept payments more efficiently and securely can be what sets a business apart in today’s rapidly digitalizing world," emphasized Antony Cahill, President of Value-Added Services at Visa.
The three new offerings include the redefined Authorize.net platform, a comprehensive Unified Checkout experience, and the ARIC Risk Hub, each designed to empower businesses and facilitate smoother financial transactions.
The ARIC Risk Hub, a product of Visa's recent acquisition of Featurespace, addresses the critical issue of fraud, which costs the global financial system billions annually. It functions as a complete fraud prevention solution, providing protection against a wide range of financial crimes. "With this platform, we’re helping businesses harness data-driven insights, simplify the checkout experience, and fight fraud more effectively than ever," said Cahill.
Using adaptive artificial intelligence, the ARIC Risk Hub identifies risky transactions while creating profiles based on legitimate customer behavior, allowing businesses to mitigate fraud risk in real time. This service is currently available globally.
The Unified Checkout experience simplifies payment acceptance for merchants by allowing them to integrate once and accommodate a variety of payment types. Cahill noted, "Unified Checkout can be launched in a few hours with a 'deploy ready' payment acceptance code." This service offers merchants an intuitive checkout interface capable of handling over 25 different card and alternative payment options, which can enhance ecommerce conversion rates. Available in the United States, the Unified Checkout is also set to pilot in additional markets later this year.
The third service, a reimagined Authorize.net platform, targets small to medium-sized merchants, providing them with enhanced tools to assess and adapt to shifting customer trends. "These new services were built to make life easier for businesses, freeing them up to do what they do best," explained Rob Cameron, Global Head of Acceptance Solutions at Visa. The updated platform boasts a more streamlined user interface, advanced AI capabilities, and improved management dashboards.
Already used by many small to medium merchants to process approximately $200 billion in annual payment volume, the new Authorize.net is expected to launch in the U.S. in the second quarter of the year, with additional countries following in 2024.
Visa’s expansion of its services portfolio adds to a robust suite of over 200 value-added services categorized into Acceptance, Advisory, Issuing, and Risk and Identity. Each of these services is tailored to meet specific client needs, ultimately aiming to fuel growth for businesses in various sectors.
As the conversation around commerce continues to evolve, Visa's new offerings reflect their commitment to empowering clients to navigate the complexities of the payment landscape successfully. "At Visa, we talk a lot about unleashing the creativity of commerce – in other words, how do we support retailers, marketplaces, and shops to launch new products, enter emerging markets, and grow," said Cameron. By bolstering payment acceptance solutions, Visa is poised to lead in creating a more seamless future for digital transactions.
